After moving to Manhattan from Philadelphia in 1976, Tiers soon found himself in the thick of downtown\u2019s free-wheeling, confrontational No Wave scene, as drummer for Theoretical Girls, a band fronted on guitar by the late avant-garde composer Glenn Branca. Working from his (literally underground) Fun City Studios, Tiers, over an illustrious 30-year career, produced scores of seminal albums by the cream of New York\u2019s experimental and alternative groups, including Sonic Youth, White Zombie, Swans, and DinosaurJr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Debuting in 1996 with BrighterThan Life, Wharton Tiers Ensemble has since released Twilight Of The ComputerAge (1998),FredomNow!(2013), ATransendance(2014), and now,KABOOM! the instrumental group\u2019s first vinyl LP Recorded live at Fun City over several years, and boasting a roster of nearly a dozen musicians, KABOOM! also features two brand-new recordings, among them a ripping remake of the epic \u201cSheet Metal Workers\u201dfrom Brighter Than Life.
